A PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE
A PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE
I
remember vividly sitting up stage with my very good friend Tosin and another
girl in church in front of a crowd of over a hundred and twenty as we spoke on
this subject “a purpose driven life”. We were around the ages of eleven and
twelve then, I think I was twelve at that time; this subject sounded really
ambiguous then but after much teaching and breaking into bits by our teachers
we had it at our finger tips. Trust me, the delivery was great. Now, here we
are six years later and I’m writing about this same subject-“a purpose driven
life”.
Personally,
this is one of those topics I learnt in church in my early years that
established a latent cognitive domain of its own in my brain. So, what’s that
one thing you learnt early while growing up that stuck with you? (While you are
at it let us get right into the subject).
What is A PURPOSE DRIVEN
LIFE?
The
caption explicitly explains the whole subject; it is a life driven by
purpose-simple isn’t it? But for the sake of formal writing let me show you
what the literal definition of purpose is:
PURPOSE: a passive translation
explains it as “designed for a particular aim” (wiktionary.org).
Have
you ever sat down to think about what your purpose really is in life? I have. I
did not spontaneously just jump right into what my purpose was in life; I had
to learn to trust God and give up my own ideas (that’s becoming flexible in
order for God to do His will through me).
More
often than not, we assume we know what’s best for ourselves but the sad truth
is this: we don’t. you might just think relocating to the Netherlands right now
might just be a worth-while plan for yourself, you probably might have had
images played out in your head on how your new life is going to be like , it’s
just so exciting and you can’t wait. Friend let me ask you this; what if your
purpose was in India? Will you throw all the plans you have made for yourself
and pursue a ‘holistic-purpose’ in a place where you have no idea what tomorrow
holds? I hope you’ll give this a deep thought.
Your
purpose in life is synonymous to that map a pilot uses when flying a plane; if
he goes out of the radar that was suppose to lead him to his destination, it
only means one thing: he will never get to his destination. Your life is the
plane and your purpose is the map, find it and it’ll guide you.
The
beautiful thing about all of these is this; when you start living in purpose,
inadvertently other lives begin to fall into their own purpose it is almost
like a self-multiplying chain reaction. I’ll like to ask, has your life brought
anyone to the light? Is your life giving meaning to those around you? This is
your purpose friend.
11 I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned
out – plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future
you hope for (Jer 29:11) MSG.
Did
you see that text? This goes to show us that God has got our future well
planned and inside of your purpose this promise is embedded. So, don’t be bent
on thinking your dream is going to be thrown away when you go after purpose; poc
(point of correction) we don’t actually go after purpose, we discover it.
HOW DO I DISCOVER MY
PURPOSE?
Friend
I’m not going to give you a jungle list full of steps on how purpose can be
found because discovering purpose is very crucial, it can be devastating living
out of it. You can never get the whole picture of your purpose once; the
picture gets clearer as every single day passes. I might not have gotten the
whole picture of what my purpose is yet but I know for a fact that writing is
one of them.
Only
God in heaven can open the eyes of your heart to what your purpose really is in
life. So, friend don’t be hesitant go ask your father.
Who
knows, you can be the Doctor who sings, the pastor who is an athlete, the
fashion designer who is a public speaker or even a programmer who becomes a
youth pastor: all in all purpose is found. Looking at the text we read earlier;
God’s plan for you and me is unfathomable plus there is an unprecedented joy
that comes with living in God’s purpose for your life.
Let’s share a
short prayer:
Thank you
Jesus for my friend who has just read this, Lord we ask from the depths of our
heart that you open the eyes of our heart to our purpose in life because we
want to live in it and bring glory to your holy name, thank you Jesus for
hearing our prayer in Jesus mighty name, amen.
God
bless you!
Itofa
