THE JOY OF THE LORD

Image
photo credit:  getty image When the clap stops and the light fades away and you are left with your thumping heart beating you finally realize that it was just bright lights and empty dreams you've  been chasing all along. Sadly, this is the story of a lot more people today… I listened to a young man yesterday addressing the kids at a valedictory ceremony, he spoke with so much zest and I could connect to the passion that was driving him. He said; ‘no dream is too big or too small and never let your finances or your family’s background decide your future’ - it was a kid’s ceremony but I went with an open heart to learn and I did learn a lot. Now, this young man was the first African to establish one of the largest NGO’s in Europe and also the youngest African to have spoken at a United Nation congress- a Nigerian! I listened to the young man keenly and His deep reverence for God and a great sense of humility was absolutely riveting, he has chosen to live a life that br...

A Fresher’s welcome

...Story 😊 ”how time flies… first semester is almost over, just a few weeks left”.   I remember vividly touching down Benin Kingdom at about 6:08pm on Thursday, the 23 rd of November 2016 to start a whole new life as an undergraduate student here in the heart beat of Nigeria, Edo state. My dream has always been to become a Medical doctor and it still is. When the University of Benin offered me a provisional admission to study for a degree at a great school like theirs I was really thrilled but my joy and excitement overturned when I saw that I was offered a total different course of study from what I applied for it broke my heart I was now left with the choice of accepting or declining, it was a tough decision owing to the fact my parents never wanted to impose their decision or infringe on my decision I prayed and spoke to a lot of friends, uncles and aunties about the decision I was about to take for the next course of my life, of course I got differ...

Turning Tables

Image
Turning Tables Have you ever had the opportunity to wait on God? By waiting on Him I mean expecting Him to show up when nobody else believes anymore; it can be very tough I know but I’ve learnt to soak God’s word all in and act on it instead of the worlds. When Jesus said “I will send the comforter (Holy Spirit) to bring to your remembrance all I have taught you” He knew we were going to be in need of God’s word to get by each day… it can be really tough and lonely out here. Turning tables; I just needed a title that will create a picturesque view in all our minds. This happens to be the first article I am writing from school here at the University of Benin ; the Benin kingdom is a city with its own story-plenty of it. I am gradually learning to act like an undergrad and the system is also opening my eyes, University kind of gives you an invisible wing to fly but flying is an option… I have met quite a lot of fresher’s here and the enthusiasm is the same. It is s...

Reflection 2 God is just too merciful, I know a lot of us would be wondering why the bad things happening are still going on, so bad that people are brutally murdered for the sake of professing Christ, my heart just breaks… This is a part 2 of Reflection . As grotesque as this may sound; I went on Youtube and for some reason I started checking all the past ISIS beheadings, I am telling you, I broke down and started crying; I just told God “forgive me father because I haven’t done enough”. Christians in the Middle East; their heads are literally being placed on a stake and decapitated, for what? Just because they love God and profess His name One of the interviews on CBN (Christian Broadcasting Network) really caught my heart. A widow, her husband was part of the 21 male Christians in Egypt that ISIS beheaded, she narrated; “ we hadn’t seen him in two days and we were so worried, later that day we were shown a video of their heads being cut off, we ...

REFLECTION

Image
Have you ever had time to interact with a person inundated in sin? There is just one thing you will find out; which is how myopic (short-sighted) their hearts are… they have no clue what life is like on the sin-free zone. I decided to write this today not because my life is a 100 but because there is a need for everyone pressing for that crown of glory to always keep in mind that heaven is real! Jesus is coming soon! My lovely sister Morenike sent me a broadcast today talking about today’s youth and how we claim to love God but clearly put Him aside to do our ‘stuff’ and pick Him up again when we need Him. Jesus is not an option He is a necessity. You literally need God to get by every day, God is love. His rain falls on both the just and the unjust, His arms are open for you to come in anytime, my friend, I find it hard to picture a life without God; there is absolutely no point living. We talk about heaven and eternity all the time but you know what? Only ...
